Deliverables & mastering

A finished film is not finished until it is in the format the destination will accept, named the way their system expects, and checked against their specification. That is a separate piece of work from the grade and the mix, and we treat it as one.

Every package we ship carries a QC report. If a file we made is rejected by the destination, fixing it is our cost.

Broadcast masters

Programme masters built to the broadcaster's own specification, with textless elements, bars and tone, and the slate they ask for.

Platform masters

Mezzanine files for streaming and online distribution, with the subtitle and caption sidecars each platform expects.

Archive masters

A high-quality master kept independent of any one platform, so the film can be re-delivered years later without going back to the grade.

QC and reports

Every package is checked against the delivery specification and shipped with a written report of what was measured.

House standard

How packages are built

Master formats

  • Broadcast programme masters to the channel's spec
  • Streaming mezzanine files with sidecar subtitles
  • Archive master kept in a platform-neutral format
  • Web and social cutdowns derived from the same master

Audio in the package

  • Mixed master to the agreed loudness target
  • Dialogue, music and effects stems
  • Textless and clean-audio elements where required
  • Measured loudness and true peak in the report

Subtitles and text

  • Subtitle and caption files in the destination's format
  • Burned-in versions where the platform requires them
  • Textless background for territory versions
  • Spelling and timing checked before shipping

With every package

  • A QC report listing what was checked
  • A manifest of every file and its checksum
  • Version number and date in the file name
  • A short note of anything the destination should expect
Media and transfer

Getting the files to and from us

File naming

  • One convention agreed at the start of the job
  • Project, version, territory and date in the name
  • No spaces or punctuation beyond hyphen and underscore
  • Nothing renamed after delivery — a new name is a new version

Physical media

  • Drives accepted formatted for either platform
  • Two verified copies before any card is formatted
  • Drives returned once the job is signed off
  • Label the drive with the project, not just the date

Transfers

  • Uploads and collection run through the client portal
  • A day of rushes is commonly 1–3 TB
  • Long transfers run unattended and resume after a drop
  • Finished packages stay available for collection for 30 days

Retention

  • Project media held for the length of the contract
  • An offline copy kept alongside the working array
  • Archive master retained for the agreed period
  • Deletion happens on written instruction, not automatically

Volumes vary a great deal by project. A commercial might arrive as a few hundred gigabytes; a documentary shot over a year commonly runs to several tens of terabytes across the job. Tell us roughly what to expect and we will size the storage before the first drive arrives.
